I grew up a huge Baseball fan…nothing came between me and baseball. Up until 2003 I was still a major fan, although McGwire and Sosa had left a lot of true fans with bad tastes in their mouths.
Barry Bonds has failed another test … this time for Amphetamines in which he then blamed on Mark Sweeney. Why not? people seem to believe him and George Bush more than facts anyways …
You can read more about Baseballs reason for failure right here.
I just find it AMAZING that Pete Rose can’t make it into the Hall Of Fame because he GAMBLED. But Barry Bonds is able to break REAL RECORDS while under the influence of Illegal Narcotics?
Amazing … truly Amazing. The guy, at the least, should be in jail right now. Darryl Strawberry was busted for coke … so was Dwight Gooden and many others who spent time in Prison. So, why should Barry Bonds be given so many extra chances?
I hope Baseball finally hits rock bottom. I mean guys getting paid $20 Million a year for hitting 30 home runs and batting .289 while on Steroids is a joke.
I just found out that ex-Padre and Giant Chris Brown died in a house fire about a week and a half ago … not sure how I just now found this out.
In 1987 I attended a Fantasy Baseball camp to meet several of my favorite players, Eric Davis, Darryl Strawberry and Chris Brown. Mookie Wilson and several others showed up as well. It was one of the most memorable experiences in my life and it turned me into one of the biggest baseball fans ever- up until McGwire broke the homerun records. Now baseball is just a joke but those memories will forever last…thanks to guys like Chris Brown; may he rest in peace.
After reading about Chris Browns death, I also learned that Jose Uribe was killed in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Jose Uribe was always a funny name to me (not to be disrespectful, though) because at the time when he was popular – La Bamba was still a popular movie…and if you remember the lyrics – you could see how a kid would think it’s funny. He was a great and very underrated shortstop, though.
2 deaths in December for the Giants, very sad.
Yeah, I know…they’re not in the BCS blah blah.
If you watched them vs. Oklahoma last night — you would have seen the BEST team in College Football, without a doubt. Maybe they were mediocre versus other teams, maybe not. But from the way they played last night — they were the BEST team I’ve watched in years, to be honest. Sure, Oklahoma could have won several times but guess what? Boise State did NOT let that stop them. They took advantage of those situations.
Even in Overtime they didn’t give up…most teams, even some of the best teams (ahem, Oklahoma) would have given up at this point.
I know a lot of Ohio State or Florida fans would disagree but…well…Ohio State is not as good as Oklahoma. Florida should have lost to South Carolina.
Next?
Boise State is UNDEFEATED. PERIOD. And they took out a team that REALLY lost ONLY ONE TIME this year (Oregon was a joke, even Oregon fans know they lost that game. Thanks to the Portland Referee!) and the other loss was versus Texas, who, at the time, was a very strong team.
The Boise State Coach and players should be congratulating themselves for months years to come. They were supposed to get blown out…but that was FAR from the truth.
This Oklahoma team was very strong. Again, I do believe they should have lost, if it weren’t for terrible play calling by Bob Stoops, but they WON fair and square. Coaching mistakes happen…there was no Referees getting in the way this time. The only person who got in the way was Oklahoma’s coach.
Congratulations to Boise State! The BEST TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.
If any of you watch NFL Football or are Oklahoma State fans, you probably know Darrent Williams. He was one of the best Corners in Football… and last night he was murdered in a Drive-by shooting while leaving a Night club after New Years.
Pretty sad…I just watched the Broncos get beat by the 49ers last night and was excited because the Chiefs get to go to the Playoffs now. I remember him leaving the game too…but he had two pretty good returns on the day. Sure is sad…he had a lot of talent and fans, among all of his family and friends.
Wow, I love Football. A whole week of upsets and close calls. Gotta love it!
Okay so A) most people know I hate USC. I can’t stand rich kids (University of Spoiled Children) and well…I believe they get away with too much from the NCAA. I find it amazing that half their good players were NOT rich kids and yet still roll in a Benz? Reggie Bush, anyone?
As if they don’t make enough money for doing something they love – the Players Association is crying Foul.
What a bunch of babies. Read below for more details.
So USC has stepped up to Number 2 as they defeated Notre Dame last night. What a horrible game that was…
What I still don’t understand is why Florida would be ranked number 4, still. Sorry Florida fans but your team lost to Auburn who got rocked by Arkansas who got upset by LSU who is ranked behind you with a better record…phewww.
I can’t believe people hype up someone who TOOK MONEY in College and was busted for it…
Honestly, I can’t even understand why he’s PLAYING right now? Oklahoma completely dropped their Starting Quarterback Rhett Bomar at the beginning of the year for doing Far less than Troy Smith did.
Now why would the NCAA even allow this guy to be nominated, much less have a chance at winning this prestigious award?
Apparently there’s others who feel the same way but it sucks to know that this guy WILL win – when he clearly DOES NOT deserve the award.
Didn’t we already go through this crap with USC recently, Oklahoma in the late 80′s and Miami for so many years? Yeah, all teams do it but few actually punish their players. Oklahoma kicked off their STARTING QB and lost all hope for a National Championship and also left their teams future questionable without a QB next year. Yet Ohio State fans continue to say “he got punished, let it go”. Of course, that’s their team!
Tressel should have kicked Smith off of the team – NOT suspend him for two games. The NCAA needs to start taking more action with this stuff… a few of the Heisman Winners lately have been bad choices for every young athlete who who is told to follow the rules.
So I was watching the Texas vs. Texas A&M game waiting for the Arkansas vs. LSU game to come on and I got bored… so I checked what was on CBS and I seen this show called “Top Ten Running backs of All Time”.
At first it was cool… until the top two were:
1) Tony Dorsett (rated #1 of all time)
2) Herschel Walker
Wow… there was no Barry Sanders, Billy Sims, Earl Campbell, Marcus Dupree, Marshall Faulk and all the other greats?
What a terrible overall list… I’m not saying these guys don’t deserve to be listed but there’s just too many GREAT running backs to put some of these guys so high up there as College Greats. From what I’ve heard – Tony Dorsett played against Oklahoma Sooners and racked up 17 total yards in the game? Hmmm… Some people have bad games but very, very few get that low.
