Always Be Learning

Files under My Life | Posted by Clint Lenard

I remember my first sales job like it was yesterday, but it was 10 years ago now (geez!). One of the first things they taught us was “Always be selling.” It’s the reason I hated Sales. I wasn’t a “sales person” like some of those people… but, I did build a rapport with most of the people I talked to, which made me somewhat successful.

I knew how to sale, don’t get me wrong. I was always learning about sales. I purchased courses, read books and went to training classes over the first 2 years of my Sales career. Working with the Van Tuyle group, they send you to some serious training classes. I hated sitting there all day knowing I had a long drive back, but I loved learning all of the cool stuff we learned about Psychology.

The odd thing is – I’m a high school dropout. I hated school. I was kicked out of several schools, and I rarely attended class when I was “in school.” I was a “trouble maker,” and having boring teachers did not help.

When I wasn’t in School, I was still learning. If something struck me as interesting, I would learn everything I could about it. I would become obsessed with the subject and try learning everything I could as quick as I could.

I’m still the same way these days. I never stop learning. It’s a great bad habit. ;-)

I get annoyed with people who don’t want to learn about subjects like Internet Marketing, yet they want to make money. They give up and call it a scam… or tell others “you can’t make money that way!” — it just bugs me to see people so lazy when it comes to opening their minds and gaining knowledge.

If you’re serious about making money online with Affiliate Marketing, I highly suggest spending all your free time (away from setting up campaigns, etc) learning something new, or expanding upon your current knowledge of that subject.

Don’t know SEO? Go learn it. SEOMoz has some great resources to learn SEO! Don’t know how to build a Website? Want to learn how to use Photoshop? Want to learn the basics of PHP, or CSS? Check out Lynda.com … it costs like $25 a month and it’s amazing.

The bottom line is: don’t stop learning if you’re serious about making this a Business. The more you learn, the more you’ll earn.
