Drug Probe Leads to Vick Property, Ailing Dogs

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

NFL FANS: SUPPORT PETA TO STOP THE NFL FROM BECOMING A JOKE

SMITHFIELD, Va. (April 26) - Police conducting a drug investigation raided a house owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and found dozens of dogs, some injured and emaciated. Police also found items associated with dog fighting.

State Police Sgt. D.S. Carr said Vick’s relative, Davon Boddie, 26, lives in the house. Vick owns the property, but doesn’t live there and wasn’t present when a search warrant was executed in a drug investigation Wednesday night, Carr said.

Boddie was arrested outside a nightclub by Hampton police April 20 on charges of distribution of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute. The search warrant was executed by a multijurisdictional task force in a narcotics probe.

More than 60 dogs were found in three buildings. Some appeared malnourished, scarred and injured, officials said.

Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The Humane Society of the United States, said the group has “heard troubling reports for some time that Michael Vick has been involved in organized dog fighting, and we fear that this investigation may validate that very disturbing allegation.”

“We urge law enforcement to aggressively investigate this matter, and we further believe that anyone who harbors dogs for the purpose of fighting, deserves to be fully prosecuted for their crimes,” Pacelle said in a statement. “Dog fighting is a barbaric activity that causes immense animal suffering and fosters violence in our communities. Our nation should have a zero tolerance policy for any form of staged animal fighting.”

The Humane Society said dog fighting is illegal nationwide and a felony in 48 states, including both Virginia and Georgia.

The animal rights group PETA has asked Falcons owner Arthur Blank to suspend Vick pending the investigation and “to kick him off the team if it is found that dogs on Vick’s property were neglected or used for fighting.”

In a letter to Blank, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said it was the second time it was writing to the owner about one of his players and allegations of cruelty to animals. On Feb. 23, the organization wrote to him about defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux’s felony charges in Georgia stemming from the fatal beating of a dog.

Falcons spokesman Reggie Roberts said the team still was gathering information on the report and had no immediate comment.

A spokeswoman for Vick’s foundation declined comment. Joel Segal, the quarterback’s agent, and Larry Woodward, a Virginia attorney who has worked with both Vick and his younger brother, Marcus, didn’t immediately return telephone messages seeking comment.

The probe at Vick’s property is the latest in a serious of embarrassing incidents for the Atlanta quarterback.

He was named in a sordid lawsuit that accused him of knowingly infecting a woman with a sexually transmitted disease and using the alias “Ron Mexico” while seeking treatment. The case was settled out of court.

Last season, Vick flashed an obscene hand gesture to heckling Atlanta fans as he walked off the field following a dismal loss to New Orleans . He was fined $10,000 by the NFL and donated another $10,000 to charity.

In January, security officers at Miami International Airport seized a water bottle from Vick that they said smelled of marijuana and had a hidden compartment. Authorities later said there were no drugs in the bottle, and Vick explained that he used the secret compartment to carry jewelry.

Just this week, Vick came under more criticism when he failed to show for a lobbying appearance on Capitol Hill in support of increased funding for after-school programs. He missed a connecting flight in Atlanta and didn’t turn up for a later flight.

Vick and two other former Virginia Tech stars - Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall and former Buffalo Bills defensive end Bruce Smith - are scheduled to join Hokies football coach Frank Beamer and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a predraft ceremony in New York on Saturday to honor the victims of the recent shooting at the Blacksburg school.

Other athletes have been linked to dog fighting.

The NBA’s Qyntel Woods pleaded guilty in January 2005 to animal abuse and was sentenced to probation and community service, in addition to pledging $10,000 to the Oregon Humane Society. Former NFL player LeShon Johnson has twice run afoul of the law for ties to dogfighting.

It’s amazing what athletes get away with. The guy uses his relative to keep away from legal troubles but the fact remains - he did not shelter his property correctly and hopefully this bites him in the ass.

The fact that he’s been caught for so many things lately reminds me of the University of Oklahoma in the 80’s.

I’m sick and tired of Athletes and other Celebrities getting off because of their popularity and money. The guy thinks he’s a thug…great, let him sit in a jail for a few months and see how tough he is.

But here’s another guy I can’t believe. I mean you gotta be a real tough guy to kill a dog who thinks you’re his best friend.

After a fight with his girlfriend? What a bitch this guy is.

The NFL needs to put a stop to the crap going on away from the field. It’s funny how some people even make the statements of “They can’t control what they do off the field”… No crap? But they can kick them out of the league!

In real life, if you’re caught murdering animals and your boss finds out — YOU’RE FIRED. PERIOD.

Animal abuse should be treated the same way as Child Abuse. Only real tough guys are known to beat animals.

We got a bunch of panzee ass clowns running around in the NFL these days. The commissioner needs to make a few examples out of these guys.

Kickin’ it Old School

Category: My Life | 1 Comment

NEW MOVIE COMING OUT THIS WEEKEND:

Kickin it old school starring Jamie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy comes out Friday. I’m surprised I haven’t seen more commercials about this movie - it looks hilarious. Jamie Kennedy and Bobby Lee in the same movie? This should be interesting… even their skit on MadTV a few weeks ago was one of the best I’ve ever seen on there.

Hot Springs Arkansas

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

So I was in Hot Springs, Arkansas over this past weekend on a Fishing trip with my Family.

I was hoping it would have been a little more fun but in the end — I had the most fun I’ve had in years, to be honest. We were actually in Mt. Ida which is just outside of Hot Springs. My Parents bought a little House boat (used, not new) that they’re fixing up.

But that’s the part that wasn’t fun… my dad was getting frustrated with one of the engines not starting (fuel pump) and it “put a damper” on the first day. That night we all “went into town” (Hot Springs) to find an auto parts store. Unfortunately, they were all out of Fuel Pumps for Chevy 350’s. Interesting.

So, basically, my dad had to bring back all of the parts he needed to replace (Fuel pump, Fuel line and a few other parts) to his house so he can replace them later.

Anyways… Saturday afternoon I caught a Bass. It was about a 4-5 lb’er. I forgot that Bass’ had spiny fins and got a shock trying to take the hook out. I released the fish… actually he was flopping around so I gently “kicked” him off the boat haha. I swept him off with my foot… just to clarify :-)

He was like the only fish I seen the entire trip. I seen a snake and about 20 turtles, though? What a night, though! Living in a city most of my life I’m used to bright nights. Out on the lake in a boat on Lake Oauchita (sp?) - there’s a billion stars in the sky. I went night fishing for about 45 minutes with my 7 year old nephew…who eventually fell asleep early.

The next day I spent most of my morning pulling fishing lines off of trees, the dock, etc, etc. It was windy and my little nephews had plenty of trouble keeping their lines in the water. I can’t say I wasn’t frustrated with it - but now I look back and can only laugh.

The kids had a great time and that’s what matters the most. It’s a shame that they never got to see the fish I caught, though.

Hopefully next time I catch more…and they catch something other than the docks and trees and limbs and moss and….you get the point. I purchased a year long license so I’m hoping to go out there more often than 1 time every 7 years haha. Last time I went to Hot Springs was in 2000. I caught 3 fish while everybody else caught a big goose egg. You can rest assured that I wasn’t the most annoying person in the world knowing that I caught three and everybody else caught nothing…

It only lasted for 7 years :-)

Now it’s “I caught 4… you caught nothing”.

Why Lease phpFoX?

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I get private messages on various sites asking me which is better? “Should I lease phpfox and try it out for a few months or should I purchase a License?”

I always say the same thing: “It depends.”

It depends on what you’re wanting to do with your Community. If you’re serious and you’ve got money to put into your site — PURCHASE a license. Why? Simple… in the long run you’ll save money.

Think about it… you pay $40 a month for 3 months and decide you do, in fact, want to purchase a license, you just spent $120 “to save money”. Of course this doesn’t make sense.

In the past phpfox kept their leased licenses encrypted. I honestly don’t know if they still do… I would think so but I’m not positive if they still do so.

But the simple fact is — IF YOU’RE WANTING TO START A COMMUNITY - PLAN IT OUT FOR A MINIMUM OF 2 MONTHS. Do your research, check out other Social Networking Sites (SNS or SNC = Community [my own acronyms]) and see what people like about the current sites you know of. Come up with a Niche Market - NOT a sub-market! There’s too many sub markets already. You need to come up with a Niche Market that will give you a lot less competition.

During those 2 months - come up with little ideas to set you apart from other communities. Hire a programmer you can trust to help you create new Mods (modifications) that will help set you apart. Come up with a cool slogan. Think of a hot logo. Figure out an awesome color scheme. Try to stick with a web 2.0 look in case you want to sell to an investor (or investor group). Web 2.0 sells… trust me.

Bottom line — a Lease is going to cost a serious Community developer more money.

Sure, my Affiliate link to phpFoX makes me more money for a purchase compared to a lease but it also saves that person more money in the long run.

Also, if you’re thinking of purchasing 2 or more scripts at once - CONTACT SALES! They’ll work out a good deal for you to save a few extra bucks. Just tell them where you heard about it ;-)

Now that’s just awesome!

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I read an article on a site that uses a type of Voice and Melody Recognition program to search for songs…

We’ve all been there. A song stuck in our head and we can  only think of the melody and not the lyrics. Well, now there’s a fix for that.

www.midomi.com

What an awesome concept!

Remember where you first heard of it ;-)

Faces of the Virginia Tech Massacre

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I actually got teary eyed looking through this list that AOL has put up. I just know too many people who went to college to party and screw around — then you see this list and most were, obviously, very hard working students, to say the least. As a matter of fact — I believe nearly half of those students killed (even a few professors) came to the U.S. from other countries trying to make a better life for themselves and/or their families.

CLICK HERE FOR THE PICTURES OF THOSE WHO WERE MURDERED DURING THE VIRGINIA TECH MASSACRE.
The story only gets harder to swallow.

Shooting at Virginia Tech

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

Not sure how many people have heard — but there was a major shooting at Virginia Tech today and currently they believe AT LEAST 20 people to be dead.

What a shame. I hope that was an over exaggeration … either way it’s a very, very sad story so far.My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were fatally wounded.

Boycott Canada and Boycott Canadian Seafood

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

We, the Undersigned, endorse the following petition:

End the Seal Hunt by Using Your Buying Power!

Target: David Emerson, Canadian Minister of International Trade
Sponsor: Humane Society of the United States

  • Signatures: 25,404
  • Goal: 50,000
  • Deadline: Ongoing…

Last year, the hunt left more than 350,000 seals dead — almost all of them were babies as young as 12 days of age. One of our most effective weapons against the hunt is a boycott of Canadian seafood.

Why? Seal hunting is an off-season activity for Canada’s east coast commercial fishermen. Only a small fraction of their incomes come from selling seal skins to the fur industry. [1] The majority of their income is made through seafood products such as snow crab, cod, scallops and shrimp.

This financial connection between the commercial fishing industry and the seal hunt means that people all over the world have the power to end the hunt by choosing not to buy seafood products from the hunters.

This year, we are excited to report that the boycott is working! The Canadian fishing industry has suffered a $350 million (Canadian) decline in the value of snow crab exports to the United States.

Put the pressure on Canada’s fishing industry by joining the more than 350,000 people who have pledged not to buy Canadian seafood products until this cruel hunt ends for good.

[1] Only a reported $17.5 million (Canadian) annually, compared to the nearly $3 billion taken in by the Canadian fishing industry from seafood exports to the United States.

WHAT A DISGUSTING COUNTRY!!! PLEASE BOYCOTT CANADIAN SEAFOOD!!!

SEND THESE LINKS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. IT CAN BE STOPPED!

I was playing around with it all day and then changed the theme and BAM! everything’s jacked up.

I’ll have it fixed sooner or later… just need to find time to do it. Luckily I had a few hours to mess with it today. Unfortunately I messed it up in the last few minutes lol

For Dummies books

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I tend to read anywhere from 1-3 books per-week, depending on the size of the book and I gotta say… Anything in the Wiley “For Dummies” series seems to be better than anything else I’ve read on that same subject…not always but most of the time.

From Technical books to more “how-to” style books - “For Dummies” seems to give you a quick jump start into the Subject.

Think about that the next time you’re looking for a “how-to” or technical book. I love every one I’ve purchased so far and that’s approximately 14 so far. ;-)

Emerald Passport… anyone using it?

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I thought it was going to be pure crap, to be honest. I’m already 10 hours into both the Real Estate Investing (needed a little refresher :)) and Power Negotiating (I spent over 150 hours learning the psychology of selling and negotiating [not to mention all of the sales training I went through with other organizations] when I worked for the Van Tuyle organization but this course is nearly as good!) and have to say — I’m very impressed, to say the least.

The price tag is hefty…but it’s great information for the price. Especially for those, like myself, looking to further their education.

I actually got it to check out the Money Management and Forex courses since they’re both something I need to learn a little more about :)

I’ll be taking on the Forex beast next month…it shall be interesting, indeed. Me and my old Business partner were supposed to be jumping into this last week but, once again, he flaked out on me. Let’s just say I’m a little disappointed and keep it at that.

Overall - the videos are cheesy but the information they give out is great. I’ve been learning about Real Estate Investing for years (started in 2002, actually, but stopped learning due to … well, not sure? I’ve always kept up with stuff and even spent a while training in the Mortgage industry, which seemed to have helped little lol) and could only wish I would have found this stuff back then. ;-)

What is failure?

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

It amazes me how many adults truly believe that failure comes so easily in life.

Failure is not defeat… Failure is giving up before a battle begins. Failure is not trying and then not succeeding…failure is not trying at all.

As children we may have felt like “failures” at one point or another — but who was it that led us to believe this statement?

It’s just a part of growing up, I suppose. Success comes much easier than Failure, as long as you take that risk. I believe I’m very successful in life in many, many avenues because of the risks I’ve taken over the years.

Most of my life I had so many people who had told me that I “couldn’t” rather than telling me I “shouldn’t”… as a child you can grow into fear quickly by mistaking those two words. Most of use live in fear because of those words. “Cannot” (can’t) or “Should not” (shouldn’t) are two extremely separate words in the American Dictionary and I believe that we need to correct our own mistakes before we teach these words to our own children.

Brainwashing a young mind can corrupt that child’s future…remember that.

The Nerve Of These Idiots.

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

So I went to MySpace earlier to check to make sure I didn’t have any messages…it’s been a week since I have. On the front page I seen this video of a guy holding Cobras on a trip to India and I already knew what was going on.

Unfortunately many humans seem to think everything that can kill a human should be murdered. Luckily, there’s a few who aren’t so stupid.

The video, which you can see below, was exactly what I figured… the guy ran into a group of Gypsies who “played a flute” that supposedly hypnotized the Snakes.

It’s like an old folk tale… one that people should realize is 100% BULLSH!T.

What these Gypsies do is pull the Fangs from these cobras so that they can not bite. The problem with this is — they’re slowly dying from that point on… they do this to make a living. Why not, right? They’re a lazy bunch of humans who believe it’s okay to earn money by killing and torturing animals for a few bucks from tourists.

They also find Female Monkeys and take their babies from them and make them dance… if they don’t — they don’t get to see their babies.

Congratulations Tough guy… took a lot of balls to hold killer creatures without their fangs.

Gotta love the comments, though!

It’s like David Copperfield making the Statue of Liberty disappear again. ;-)

Thank God You’re Here King Of Queens

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

Two shows making one very long title.

Today was the premiere of the new NBC show “Thank God You’re Here!”. I knew it would be good but WOW it was hilarious!

Make sure you guys check it out next monday ;-)

Tonight was also the opening of the second half of the season for King Of Queens, which ends this season…forever :(

This show was my favorite show over the past 6 years. I’m going to miss it… I don’t watch much T.V. lately but usually watch at least 2-3 hours per-day on average… This is usually during my early morning workout (when I first wake up), Lunch (I like watching T.V. when I eat…sue me!) and late night T.V. (prime time) which is only on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (My Name Is Earl and Scrubs!).

It’s a shame to see it come to an end… but it’s the sad case for everything.

Snow in April?

Category: My Life | Leave a Comment

I’ve never been anywhere and seen snow in April before…maybe I just haven’t been to enough places in life? Either way… Every time I’ve visted Texas in the past it seems to snow around January or February but somehow, the day before easter, it’s snowing!

It’s not sticking… it was actually 85 degrees and very, very humid just a couple of days ago - so that has probably kept it from sticking. But it’s coming down pretty hard, which is what “boggles my mind”.

On a side note - I’ve become an ebay junkie. I promised myself I would never turn into an ebay junkie but somehow I need to leave feedback for 37 items in a span of 10 days. I actually sold a few things on Ebay for the first time ever. I sold my Treo that stopped taking a charge and I threw in my Jabra Headset and all the extras I had purchased (well over $450) and only sold them for $217. I originally had them for $297, which was cheap but couldn’t even get a bite.

I’m actually glad to get rid of it as it will justify purchasing my iPhone in June :-)

I got word from Cingular employees that the phone will have a couple of versions ranging anywhere from $499-$699. I’ll probably go all out just to have the best. It seems expensive but…not in my opinion. Business is Business and I need to be able to keep up with everything at all times. I love working and it will only help keep track of my Business.

p.s. I heard that Palm is selling out… that sucks.

I would go make snow angels…but I can’t afford grass stains on the clothes I’m currently wearing :-P
