Why is it easier to do wrong things, rather than right things?

Drug Addictions, Smoking, Alcoholism, Eating the wrong foods, laziness, Giving up, Excuses, etc.

They’re all so easy …

We’ve all taken the easy route. If you disagree with that, maybe you should think again. Since we were kids we’ve all found the “easy way” out of doing the “right thing”. Why is that?

I stopped smoking almost 5 months ago but I can’t say that I don’t think about going out to have a smoke …shoot, it’s easier to just smoke than it is to not smoke!

I’ve made excuses for not doing chores as a kid … was it laziness? Possibly. But there were also times that I was involved in playing sports and felt that I didn’t have time to do those chores. I was simply caught up in the moment and felt that nothing should take me away …
I once had an addiction to alcohol. It was much easier to drink my problems away rather than to deal with those problems.

Convenience can ruin lives.

Excuses can kill … literally!

I have several friends who have, at one time, hit rock bottom from Drug addictions, only to recover and start back over again and again. Why don’t they just stop? Is it simply a mental weakness? Or is it that the addictions are more important than life itself? Maybe it’s just “easier” to continue doing it rather than quitting?
Obviously they love their families, they’ve tried to stop several times … but why would they continue?

Why do we shove some work to the back of our minds rather than trying to finish them up? I’ve done this several times in the past. Lately I’ve found myself so overwhelmed with work, to where I would LOVE to do the same but I’ve learned from past mistakes. Luckily I’ve learned a lot over the years.

Why do we do it to ourselves, though? Is it really that much easier to make excuses?

Is taking a drag of that cigarette really worth a possible relapse to the addiction you worked so hard to beat?
Is the sadness or depression really worth the extra few beers? Will life be really be better tomorrow?

Will the Super Size fries and drink REALLY make you happier? What about the next time you step on the scale?

Will the procrastination really help you with accomplishing your goals for tomorrow?

Think about it … I know I will.

Setting goals is about as useful as telling your worst enemy about the bad things in your life … without really concentrating, daily (if not more often), on your goals, you’ll never accomplish any of them.

Goals should not be expressed on paper and thrown away … they should not be expressed to another person, just to make that person happy. They should be genuine and pure. They should be something you truly want to accomplish. They should be inscribed in your mind for the simple fact that you need to accomplish that goal.
They should be thought about every single time you have the opportunity to think about them. Over and over …
Whether it’s smoking cessation, eating healthier, working smarter, to lose weight, or even “to be happier” - you need to remind yourself of these goals all day long.

I honestly believe in the power of positive thinking. If you really want something to happen - you need to believe. If you REALLY believe that -that specific belief will come true … it will. Whether it’s good or bad. So remember to think positive while trying to reach those goals.
