PHPFox 1.5 Beta is released - but how good is it?

Files under My Life, PHPFox, programming | Posted by Clint Lenard

So the PHPFox Dev team released 1.5 Beta last night and the forums were PACKED full of people waiting for the announcement.

I figured this release would easily top all of the past versions but I didn’t know what to expect!

Fortunately, 1.5 (even in Beta) seems to blow away any past PHPFox Version. The Organization of Files and Folders is GREAT. I love the way they packaged this together and the way they’ve kept the Business Logic seperated. 1.5 (Konsort) will be using the Smarty Templating System which will make it easier to create nice, custom, layouts/designs.

The code is pretty much 100% OOP which of course makes the entire system MUCH more modular and easier to create plugins…which is another cool product in the works and should be ready by the stable release: Plugin System!

For me - being a Mod creating fool - I can’t wait to jump into the Plugin System which I might end up helping to create while it’s in Beta, it will be great to create Plugins rather than “mods” that need huge Install Files and takes 15 Minutes to install! Now it should be a matter of uploading and plugging in…similar to vB, hopefully.

I’m still playing with it and I should definately have more info available to everyone as soon as I get further into testing it.

You can see the demo at: www.phpfoxdemo.com/betav1_5/ — Remember, it’s BETA ;)

If you find any bugs - PLEASE report them to the Dev Team or myself and I can report them for you.
