Is T.O. Sleeping on the Job?

Files under My Life | Posted by Clint Lenard

I was reading an article on Yahoo! Sports about how Terrell Owens apparently falls asleep during Team Meetings…

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Terrell Owens downplayed a report Friday that he falls asleep in team meetings.

“As long as I don’t sleep on Sunday,” the Dallas Cowboys receiver said as he left the locker room at the team’s practice facility. As is customary on Friday, he did not conduct interviews.

The receiver said in Friday’s editions of The Dallas Morning News that he informed the Cowboys about a sleeping problem before signing with them.

“It’s nothing new for me to fall asleep in a meeting,” he said.

Owens said the problem dates to the first stop of his career in San Francisco, where he said receivers coach George Stewart thought he was staying up too late.

“When I did get to bed early, I would still get to meetings and fall asleep, and it’s the same thing here,” Owens said.

Owens said he hasn’t been staying out late.

He acknowledged that his sleeping habit irks Cowboys passing game coordinator Todd Haley, who had a run-in with Owens at practice earlier this season.

“At some point, give me a little vet credit,” Owens said. “But I understand (Haley) wants me to be a professional and be a standup guy for the younger guys on the team.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said it was an issue of “personal health” that wouldn’t be discussed outside the team.

“I don’t say that as though it’s something that’s irritating at all,” Jones said.

Well, what can T.O. do now that he’s not yappin his mouth? ;-)

I believe the Team knew of this problem before hand… and as long as the guy is doing his job on Game Day – what’s the problem? So far he’s done exactly what the Cowboys have asked of him this season, from what I’ve seen. He’s a very talented player and now that he’s not talking out of his a$$ and still a key player on his team — SLEEP ALL YOU WANT!

Terry Glenn is finally getting his own little spotlight now that T.O. has come around … I believe this is why the Cowboys brought him in for, to be honest. Glenn has unbelievable skills but seems to have had a little overcast over his parade without T.O. around.

Hopefully they both continue to play well. The Chiefs are my favorite NFL team but hey – as long as the Cowboys aren’t hyped up like they were in the 90′s — I’m definately a fan :)

In other Cowboys news:

Tony Romo is a fan of Favre but not a fan of being compared to Favre.

Also, it looks like Santana Moss won’t be playing against the Cowboys this weekend. That sucks! Moss is probably one of the top 5 recievers in football – if not top 3 – and playing against 2 of the other top 5 (my opinion) would have been a great game to watch.

Oh well, hopefully we’ll get to see it next time!
