Check the stats… So far Bush has been stopped easily in the NFL. The Texas Longhorns showed that he wasn’t unstoppable in the National Championship and now he’s playing against a less lopsided group of great athletes, each and every day.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to bash Bush by stating that he didn’t deserve the hype in College. He was an excellent player. Maybe not a Marcus DuPree — but they hype seems familiar.
What I’m saying is simple: Reggie Bush is NOT a Barry Sanders type athlete. He’s got speed and quickness but that offensive line and weaker defenses he played against are no longer part of the equation. Barry Sanders used his speed and quickness, sure… but what he had that Bush doesn’t is experience running by himself. The ability to KNOW what to do. Sanders had a phenomenal ability to understand each defense and knew when and where to use his quickness, speed and agility.
Bush seems to get stopped at the line every time I watch him carry the ball. He threw an Interception and had a fumble yesterday… so why is the hype still here?
It’s alot like the Michael Vick hype I hated hearing about a few years back… but here we go again: Vick’s hype is slowly coming back as well. He finally has a couple of good games and now he’s being called “great”.
Sorry to break your hearts kids but Mr. Vick is NOT a Great QB. He may become a great QB one day but at this point he is nowhere near that level. Peyton Manning? Yeah, he’s a great QB. Vick? He’s got potential to be good but in my personal opinion he’s slightly under decent. A good running QB still has no place in the NFL these days… hence: McNabb has went from good to GREAT when he started learning how to pass more. McNair is another good QB who, as he got older, stopped running and is now showing his skills.
Bush? I’m not sure if he’ll ever pan out, to be honest. He may become mediocre but so far he’s not really lighting up anything other than Subway commercials. ![]()
