So I’ve got an Uncle who’s been “dying” from Cancer for about a Year now. Sounds odd but here goes:
So about this time last year my Cousin was nearly killed in a Car Accident and I seen alot of Family Members I hadn’t seen for a year or so… one was my Uncle Larry who I’ve never really talked to until the last 4-5 years because I found out he’s a Chiefs fan and of course, like the rest of my family, a Sooners fan.
Well, unfortunately my Uncle Larry had a “pulled” muscle in his groin and decided to go to the Doctors…who somehow found some other problems which led to some X-Rays that eventually found a Mass in his Lungs.
So the Mass in his Lungs triggered the Cancer scare and for about a year we’ve heard “He’s got Cancer” and “He doesn’t have cancer” stories from all kinds of doctors. Of course they did surgery because they did find masses in both his Lungs and his Brain. They removed these masses and supposedly he was okay.
Well, they also took out “cancer’ in his intestines as well. I believe they removed about 4 feet of Intestines, to be exact.
The saddest part of the story involves his kids… his kids (my “cousins”) all the sudden became really involved with his life after Family Members had forced them to get off their asses and show some respect to their father. Luckily they did – at the time..but then THEY became the problem. His daughter apparently found out that having daddy in the Hospital helped her pay her bills and not have to work…nice for her huh? And the Son seen the Bank Account, apparently.
Basically his kids decided they liked daddy in the hospital so much that they decided to put him in a “home” and leave him to suffer. Yeah, they showed up to make sure that the rest of the Family didn’t try taking him out of there — they DID have his Power of Attorney, which means they own him!
Now their father is dying, for sure, in this home and nobody can do a DAMN thing about it! All this time I watched my parents go back and forth to be with my Grandmother and heard about my grandmother and uncle Tony, amongst others, visiting my Uncle Larry in this home. But while this was happening – another one of my Uncles apparently had the gonads to call my parents “busy bodies”… I’m GUESSING he was upset that my Parents took the 4 1/2 – 5 hour drive to visit my dads dying Brother? Interesting name calling…
But anyways, now this Uncle and his Wife decided they wanted to become Monday Morning Quarterbacks and start yelling “cancer treatment hospital”. Uhhhhh… wow, thanks for the Johnny Come Lately tactics but I would have thought you guys would have put more thought into this?
See… unlike “some people” – my Immediate Family has dealt with alot of Deaths to Cancer, unfortunately. So, while they were calling others “funny little names” and getting into other peoples business about being involved in other peoples serious business, trying to help, my Parents were already trying to get my Uncle into a Cancer Treatment center nearly 8 months ago… Hello, World!
I’m just tired of people who always try to look like they’re doing good while the entire time they were doing absolutely NOTHING. Nothing at all… just talking crap about the people who were trying to help.
Anyways, it looks like my Uncle now only has a few more days left. It sucks because my Uncle Bob and my Grandfather died on the same day. My Uncle Bob died of Brain Cancer about 2 1/2 years after my other Grandfather died of Lymphoma. My Grandmothers brother died of Leukemia and there were other family members who died of Cancer related illnesses as well. My “Grandpa Dave” who was actually my best-friends Grandfather passed away around the same time as my Uncle and Grandfather…they said “natural causes” but he had beat Cancer twice, along with a massive heart attack.
Life is short. Use the time wisely and stop worrying about the dumb stuff. If the dumb stuff sticks around – look at the people you associate yourself with and lose them, even if it hurts. Trust me, they aren’t worth it in the end if they can’t make you happy.
So it seems Cancer runs in my family on both sides?
