So I’ve been reading alot about Microsofts attempt to compete with the Internet’s new biggest toy: YouTube.com … So what will it take for another attempt to compete with this company? MySpace, the biggest Social Networking Community online, couldn’t compete with YouTube - so what makes a Company like Microsoft who seems to fail while trying to compete with the big web-dogs - want to compete?
Well…
I’m not so sure! We’ve already watched Microsoft believe they could take on Google in the Search Engine world. While they might not have failed in some users eyes - they did fail in promises and Marketing.
I guess Microsoft will keep on trying until they find another Product to succeed on. For now they keep digging deep into already successful product lists and not quite making their version any different… and definately not better. From the sounds of it - Microsoft’s version of YouTube is not bringing anything NEW to the table… Codenamed Warhol and later to be named “Soapbox”, this product seems to be just another “general toy” for the public. Some will like it, others will not.
This is a perfect example of why Yahoo! seems to grow with the web. They jump into the pond only if the water’s just right. Never if it’s too cold or too warm… not too deep or not too shallow. They somehow seem to jump in at just the perfect time. This is why I see Yahoo! growing continually and other “big names” slowly failing later.
